This includes information related to fixed exterior sun control devices installed during construction. Exterior sun control devices are installed on the exterior of a building to help control heat and glare caused by the sun. In addition to controlling the thermal affects of the sun, exterior sun control devices also provide privacy, insulate the interior and protect against damage that could be caused by storms. These devices maybe installed directly above the windows and/or extended beyond the windows and anchored to the adjacent building structure. These devices are installed in fixed positions as specified in the contract documents. We can help you with your thermal analysis to determine the optimal design solution based on solar conditions. These devices are often paired with light shelves. Light shelves are interior elements that are attached to the exterior window, underneath an upper vision glass unit, to project indirect light into a building. By projecting this indirect exterior light into the building, lighting and energy demands can be lowered.
